The Teide National Park is in the middle of the island of Tenerife. The top of the volcano "Pico del Teide" is at 3718 m. Las Caňadas which surrounds the mount Teide is covered with snow in the winter and turns into an oven in the summer. In this captivating lunar landscape you will see old lava flows, beautifull rock formations and also other smaller volcanos.

On the way up you will find many areas where you can stop and enjoy the view.

The road looks like one of these you find in the French Alps. You will drive in so many twists and turns all the way to the top. There are also some beautifull areas where it's possible to stop for lunch and use the barbecues. The forest here is mainly composed of pine trees.

When the weather is clear and the sky blue, the view is amazing. When it's cloudy after a certain altitude you are above the clouds like in a plane.

The road going accross the National Park is breath taking. Everything around you is gigantic. The landscape around shows an old, intense and powerful volcanic activity which make you feel very small. If trekking and photography is your hobby you will not find a better place to be on Tenerife.

Los Roques, a stop to make pictures and also a point where you can a little trekking.

The most popular picture seen on postcards. A picture of Teide from
Los Roques.

The cable car takes you to 3550 metres from 9h00 to 16h00 for an hour. Sometimes it's closed because of strong winds. If you get a written authorization you can do it walking. The top of Teide is not accessible unless you are working for a TV channel or are a group of volcanologists. A special authorization is needed.
